Jonathan Majors Explains What Makes His Villain, Kang The Conqueror The Worst In The MCU

“Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantum Danger” will be released next month in theaters, and the cast is deeply involved in promotional activities. During a recent interview, Jonathan Majors, the actor for Kang, talked about his character and revealed what fuels the new big villain of “Ant-Man 3” and the MCU.

Jonathan Majors Reveals Kang’s Secret

During an interview hosted by Fandango, Jonathan Majors revealed what drives Kang and makes him a supervillain. The actor said that Kang’s internal discomfort, suffering, frustration, and pain with the world are motivating him. His heartache is massive, and it is what has made him a supervillain. Majors also said that it would be interesting to see how this internal friction manifests. In the end, the Kang actor also said that this would make him the biggest and worst MCU villain till now.

This isn’t the only hint we have had regarding Kang’s internal struggle. Director Peyton Reed has also spoken about Kang’s experiences shaping his outlook and personality. The director said that since Kang can experience the past, present, and the future all at once, he knows exactly how to act. As a result, he doesn’t waste any words or gestures since he knows what to say and how to say it. So, when he says something, the villain definitely means it. The MCU has never had a villain that has weaponized time itself, even though Thanos played with time a little. But he never had total control over it. So due to this, Kang is the biggest threat the heroes have faced till now.

Jonathan Majors has further said that the movie is about how time plays a huge role in our relationships with friendship, love, and legacy. He revealed that every character in the film, from Scott to Hank and more, will deal with the promise or threat of time. His words are interesting because the two trailers for “Ant-Man 3” have already clarified that Scott Lang is searching for more time to spend with his daughter. Janet Van Dyne has also lost time with her husband and daughter. It’s also intriguing that Janet and Kang will have their own mysterious history with each other.

The Connection Between Janet And Kang

In an interview with Empire, MCU boss Kevin Feige revealed that Janet Van Dyne and Kang have a history with each other. He said that she was a very powerful and famous freedom fighter in the quantum realm. But no one in her family will know about her history till they reach the sub-atomic place. In a rumored plot leak posted in the Marvel Studios Spoilers subreddit, Janet was going to help Kang escape the Quantum Realm when she was stuck in the sub-atomic region in “Ant-Man 2.” But she found out about his nefarious plans and sabotaged the device he was planning on using to escape.

So, he hates Janet and wants his revenge on her. He will get his chance when she and her family get stuck in the quantum realm. The idea of a Freedom Fighters grouping against Kang’s regime is also interesting. It’s rumored that along with Janet Van Dyne, Quaz (William Jackson Harper) and Jentorra (Katy O’Brian) will also be part of the Freedom Fighters, who are waging war against Kang. The current speculation about Quaz is that he’s a telepath, and Jentorra is a member of one of the tribes in the Quantum Realm. But we don’t know yet how they will help our titular heroes. Also, speaking of titular heroes, what will be the relationship between our main hero and the main villain?

The Connection Between Scott And Kang

In the Empire interview, Kevin Feige revealed that even though Kang is a powerful being, he will be in a vulnerable position in the film. This is because even though he has a device and a ship that will let him travel anywhere he wants, they aren’t online. Now, the only people who can help him are Ant-Man and his team with their Pym particles. So, this is why Kang wants Ant-Man’s help. So, he will probably lure Scott with the promise of giving him more time to spend with his daughter, but in the end, he won’t keep his end of the deal. As a result, an upset Scott will not only have to reconcile with the idea of not having more time with his daughter, but he will also have to stop Kang from escaping the Quantum Realm and wreaking havoc on the world.

As per the same rumored plot leak on the Marvel Studios Spoilers subreddit, Scott will fail in that task. So, Kang will escape. However, MCU fans have already deduced that this will be the ending of the film since Kang can’t doom the multiverse without getting out of the Quantum Realm. But there’s another eyebrow-raising tidbit mentioned in the plot leak post: Apparently, Kang is going to trap Scott as well as Hope in the quantum realm. If this is correct, then contrary to the popular rumors, Scott won’t die. But how will Kang trap Scott? Is this plot leak even correct? We will find it all when “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” premieres on February 17, 2023.
