Moto X40 Pro (Moto Edge 40 Pro) Specifications
With several sources leaking information, the expected specifications will put the Moto X40 Pro on par with OnePlus and Google.
Body: With the presence of antenna lines in the leaked images, the Moto X40 Pro is expected to launch with a metal frame, unlike its predecessor, the Moto Edge 30 Pro, which had a plastic build. The flagship will weigh 196 g and measure 161.3 x 73.9 x 8.66 mm. The Moto X40 Pro will have Corning Gorilla Glass protection and dual SIM (Nano Sim, dual standby).
Display: The Moto X40 Pro comes with a 6.67-inch curved display and has a 20:9 screen-to-body ratio. With a full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels, the OLED display can cater to the audience with 1 billion colors. The flagship has a pixel density of 395 PPI and a refresh rate of 144 Hz. Other than these, the Moto X40 Pro will have HDR10+ certification and a brightness of up to 1000 nits (HBM) and 1250 nits (peak).
Hardware: This flagship from Motorola is packed with some mind-blowing hardware that, on paper, looks like an absolute beast. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 Gen 2 chipset powers the Moto X40 Pro, which has an octa-core CPU and an Adreno 740 GPU. The chipset is one of the most advanced and powerful tools available on the market, designed to enhance performance. As per multiple reports, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 has already outscored the Dimensity 9200 SoC on AnTuTu. The Moto X40 Pro’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset has scored a whopping 1.3 million points and is expected to deliver a staggering gaming experience and provide record-breaking 5G speed. Like most flagships, it will not have a memory slot, and the versions will be available in 8/128 GB, 8/256 GB, 12/256 GB, and 18/512 GB. The device will run on the latest Android 13 operating system and have UFS 3.1 storage.
Rear Camera: There is a significant change in the main camera layout for the Moto X40 Pro. In the Edge+ series, you were familiar with the rectangular design, but the Moto X40 Pro comes with a square design. With their signature “M” logo in the middle of the device’s back, the flagship comes with a triple camera setup where the main camera is 50 MP, the ultra-wide is 50 MP, and the telephoto lens is 12 MP. The main camera has an OIS (optical image stabilization) and dual-pixel PDAF (phase detection autofocus), while the telephoto lens can perform 2x optical zoom and has PDAF. Features like panorama, HDR, and dual-LED flash are also present. You can shoot video in 720 P at 960 FPS, 1080P at 30/60/120/240 FPS, and 4K at 30FPS.
Selfie Camera: The punch-hole camera in the upper middle looks absolutely stunning and appears to have blended in seamlessly with the curved display. The Moto X40 Pro is expected to have a 60 MP selfie camera that will support HDR and can shoot videos at 4K at 30 FPS and 1080p at 30 or 120 FPS.
Sound: The Moto X40 Pro, like its predecessors, will include stereo speakers with loud and clear sound. You should be able to find the primary speaker on the lower portion of the device, besides the microphone cutout, and the secondary one on the top edge. The volume rockers are set on the right side of the phone, along with the power button. Unfortunately, like most flagships, the Moto X40 Pro lacks a 3.5 mm audio jack and radio facility.
Battery And Connectivity: The Moto X40 Pro will be powered by a 5000 mAh battery and support 68 W fast charging. The Moto X40 Pro is expected to support VoLTE, 4G, and 5G. It is yet to be known which one of the 5G bands the device will come with. The flagship comes with NFC, Bluetooth 5.2, and WiFi 802.11. The Moto X40 Pro will come with a USB-Type C port for charging and an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance.
Final Verdict
The device is expected to debut in China as the Moto X40 Pro in December 2022 and elsewhere as the Moto Edge 40 Pro in January 2023. The Moto X40 Pro will be available in two colors, black and white, and the expected price will be around $699.
