‘Amazfit GTR Mini’ First Impression Review: Things You Should Know Before Buying

There are plenty of users around the world who do not like bulky and large-dial watches. Keeping this customer base in mind, Amazfit introduced their mini-series into their GTR model lineup. The watch boasts an extremely lightweight design along with a sleek outfit that can easily compete with its recently launched sibling in September 2022, the Amazfit GTR 4. In this article, we will see all the specifications that have been packed into the GTR Mini and try to analyze how they will perform in the long run.

Body Design

Available in three soothing colors, including Misty Pink, Ocean Blue, and Midnight Black, the Amazfit GTR Mini comes with a dimension of 42.83 x 42.83 x 9.25 mm. The watch shows 37 g on the scale when weighed with the strap on, and 24 g without the strap. The strap is made of a skin-friendly silicone material that has a 20 mm width, comes with an interpolation buckle, and is very flexible. The back of the watch comes with a glazed panel that shares the same color as the strap. The design of the watch looks extremely minimalistic and polished with its stainless steel finish, and it has only one button. The button can be used to activate menu options and also get back to the home screen. A long press of the button will activate different features that can be easily customized. For further protection, the Amazfit GTR Mini comes with 5 ATM water resistance.

Display

The Amazfit GTR Mini comes with a vibrant 1.28 in HD AMOLED display, which is mesmerizing and sleek. A curved glass is used for the watch to make a full 360-degree view possible, and this has further enhanced the premium look of the device. The Amazfit GTR Mini boasts a pixel density of 326 PPI and has an anti-fingerprint coating on the display, which will save the device from irritating fingerprint smudges. The nits of brightness have not been mentioned by the company, but for both indoor and outdoor use, the display is pretty adequate. You can further upgrade your display from the more than 100 watch faces that come with the device. It also offers a Portrait mode similar to that of the Apple Watch where you can upload up to 3 images of your choice and each time the display wakes up, you will see a different image, which is cool.

Software And Features

With the Amazfit GTR Mini, you can track data on steps taken, calories burned, and many more; the device also supports more than 120 sports modes and provides a post-workout report. The watch has the ability to remind you of the sports mode you should activate with its intelligent detection of 7 types of sports activities, which include treadmill, walking, cycling, and others. Access a ton of specialized data like training load, VO2 Max, training effect, and recovery time after you have completed your activity to check your daily progress. You can even share this data with fitness communities and apps, like Relive, Adidas, Strava, Google Fit, and Apple Health. The Amazfit GTR Mini is powered by the dual-core Huangshan 2S chip and Zepp OS 2.0. The OS is extremely power efficient and works in synchronization with the latest BioTracker PPG optical sensor to provide all-day round monitoring of heart rate, blood oxygen saturation, and stress level. If you want a quick update of your heart rate, blood oxygen saturation, and stress level, just select the one-tap measuring function, and it will provide the result within 15 seconds. When you activate the Sleep Mode in the Amazfit GTR Mini, the device will automatically disable notifications and dim the display light. Data on sleep quality, sleep breathing quality, and light, deep, and REM sleep stages can also be tracked on the watch. The Amazfit GTR Mini is further equipped with the feature to understand the overview of health PAI score and menstrual cycle tracking. The Zepp OS 2.0 supports third-party apps, which you can download from the Zepp App. You can even add club cards and memberships via the Zepp app, and the watch also has three inbuilt games to keep you from getting bored.

Battery And Connectivity

A 280 mAh battery is packed inside the Amazfit GTR Mini, which supports magnetic charging and takes around 2 hours to get fully charged. The official website has claimed that with typical usage, the watch would last up to 14 days on a single charge and 7 days with heavy usage. If you switch on the Battery Saver Mode, it can go up to 20 days, and on the Clock Mode, a whopping 30 days. On continuous GPS tracking, the battery would last for 25 hours. The Amazfit GTR Mini is equipped with circularly polarized GPS antenna technology and Bluetooth 5.2. When compared to standard antennas, the GPS on the Amazfit GTR Mini can pick up twice as many satellite signals and provide pinpoint accurate GPS tracking. The GPS is also supported by five satellite positioning systems, which can capture nearly 100% of signals by reducing interference in environments with tall trees or skyscrapers.

Wrapping Up

The Amazfit GTR Mini is priced at $120/ ₹10,999 and is already available on Amazon. But people in India can exclusively order the Amazfit GTR Mini from March 23, 2023, onward. The number of hefty features that the watch is providing at this price tag is just mind-blowing. But the functionalities are yet to be tested in the real world, and if it does perform the way it promises, then the Amazfit GTR Mini will surely become a value-for-money watch.
