‘Gulmohar’ Plot, Cast, Release Date, And Everything You Need To Know

The must-watch movie symbolizes love, warmth, and togetherness between family members and is definitely going to be heavy on the tear ducts.


‘Gulmohar’ Plot

Amidst the misunderstandings, mysteries, uncertainties, and chaos lies the attachment that binds a family together. a Disney+ Hotstar film is going to depict the familial ties of the Batra, where the matriarch plans to sell their shelter and move 14000 miles away from Delhi. The trailer begins with Kusum (Sharmila Tagore), the elegant old lady who declares that she bought a small cottage in Pondicherry to shift in over an ongoing house party. The cheers, giggles, and chuckles in “Gulmohar” started a fraction of a second after the clip started. The 34-year-old home is not just a modular construction for the family members; rather, it is a dream that they used to cherish. Arun (Manoj Bajpayee), the son of Kusum, gets extremely disheartened and shocked by this news. Along with this, they also unveil the dark secrets about his late father’s will that directly affect their interpersonal relationships. It is crystal clear that Aditya (Suraj Sharma) is not on good terms with his dad Arun, as he refuses to take any favors from him and doesn’t want to live together. With all the heartfelt emotions, Arun expresses how they are living in the same house yet setting up barriers within rooms. The three generations are unfamiliar with each other, which creates a cold war and drastic change among them. While Indu, the wife of Arjun, tries her best to put the pieces of the puzzle together, Eventually, Kusum says that she wants to celebrate Holi with her whole family before relocating to their new house. But this leaves the audience with a question mark when Kusum says that “Gulmohar” was not built with genes but with the heart! The trailer ends with everyone raising a toast to their beloved home and whooping it up in their vibrant outfits.


‘Gulmohar’ Cast And Crew

Directed by Rahul Chittella, the family-centered drama “Gulmohar” will be a great sensation of the year. The stellar cast includes National Award-winner Sharmila Tagore (as Kusum), an absolute classic in the Indian film industry. The graceful lady is aging like fine wine while remaining a role model to the newcomers. Sharmila Tagore, the great-granddaughter of Rabindranath Tagore, started her family with the famous Indian cricketer Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi. The veteran star was a fashion icon in her acting days and never abstained from exploring aesthetics and artistry both on and off the screen. With her signature arched eyebrows, winged liner, bold makeup, nude lip shades, vintage hairdos, and tucked flowers, she was an absolute beauty. She paved her way in Bollywood through “Aradhana,” “Kashmir Ki Kali,” “Chupke Chupke,” “Daag,” “An Evening in Paris,” “Mausam,” and so on. Another cast member, Manoj Bajpayee, who played the role of Sardar Khan in “Gangs of Wasseypur,” will portray the role of Arun in “Gulmohar.” His career expanded with movies like “Naam Shabana,” “Traffic,” “Aligarh,” “Special 26,” and several others. Recently, Manoj, as Srikant Tiwari, a secretive agent in the Intelligence Bureau, has received huge appreciation for his role in “The Family Man,” an Amazon Prime Original series helmed by Raj and DK. He won the National Film Award three times for his amazing acting in “Bhonsle,” “Satya,” and “Pinjar.” The National Film Award nominee Simran will make up for the role of Indu in the upcoming show “Gulmohar.” The cast also includes Amol Palekar (as Sudhakar),

Tripti Sahu (as Surekha), Kaveri Seth (as Divya), and Nargis Nandal (as Payal). The rising star Suraj Sharma from “Life of Pi” will play one of the significant roles in “Gulmohar” as Aditya, the son of Arun. Previously, the BAFTA Rising Star Award nominee signed up for shows such as “Wedding Season,” “God Friended Me,” “Million Dollar Arm,” “How I Met Your Father,” “Homeland,” and so on.

Along with Rahul Chittella, Vikesh Bhutani, and Shujaat Saudagar, they produced the movie with Star Studios in association with Chalkboard Entertainment and Autonomous Works. Arpita Mukherjee, the co-writer, has equally paid her contribution to design the screenplay with the director.


‘Gulmohar’ Release Date

Mark your calendar as “Gulmohar” is set to release worldwide on March 3, 2023, on Disney+ Hotstar. The trailer was uploaded to the official channel on YouTube on February 11. With the syrupy soundtrack by Siddhartha Khosla, the trailer could lump in your throat while giving a boomerang of hope and rejoicing till the end. Eeshit Narain, with his jaw-dropping cinematographic skills, has sketched the heartwarming film setback in the elegant colonies of Delhi. The idea of the film came to mind when the director visited Nair’s villa in Delhi, where the packers were taking off photographs and wall paintings, which also reminded him of a sense of detachment from the roots. The story is rather an individual experience of threads that have been long weaved between the blood relations, highlighting love, laughter, fear, and tears under the same roof.
