It is rare to find a film saga with an almost impossible plot to continue for a stretch of twenty-one years. “Fast & Furious” is no longer just a franchise; it has transformed into a modern, off-the-wall pictorial experience with sequels, spinoffs, video games, TV shows, and many more. For many, the first four installments of the film had a somewhat believable fantasy; however, as time passed, the fantasy lost almost every touch with reality. However, that did not affect the fans, as they were thoroughly entertained by each of these movies. During the initial days, the movies were moderately successful at the box office, but some vehemently failed. However, with “Furious 7” and “The Fate of the Furious,” the box office success was skyrocketing globally. “F9: The Fast Saga,” which was released during the pandemic, added to its commercial success with its theatrical release in June 2021.
All these need to be said out loud, as we expect a few more movies from the franchise. As the tenth and the second installment arrive, the fans are emotional. “Fast X” will release its official trailer on February 10 this year, and actor Vin Diesel unveiled the poster on his social media handles, stirring anticipation among the fans. Universal Pictures confirmed the trailer release date as well. So, without further ado, here is what you should know about this ridiculously extravagant blockbuster that we have been hooked on for more than two decades.
Are The Former Actors Returning?
Although we can just imagine how far the ever-expanding “Fast & Furious” family might go, there will be a few known faces who have been previously introduced. It is no brain teaser that Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, and Sung Kang of the Torretto Crew will be returning. Along with this, this deeply logic-defying franchise will bring back Tyrese Gibson, Jordana Brewster, and Nathalie Emmanuel for another round of nerve-wracking action. Charlize Theron will be back as Cipher, and Cardi B will be returning as Leysa but in an expanded role.
What New Faces Should We Expect?
In “Fast X,” the audience shall be introduced to a new member of the Toretto family, the grandmother. Her role will be played by Rita Moreno. The macho heartthrob “Khal Drogo” from HBO’s famous series “Game of Thrones”, Jason Momoa is all set to step into the franchise. Although his character’s name is not out yet, Momoa will be added to the list of antagonists who physically, emotionally, and mentally tormented and tested the Toretto family. Not just “Aquaman,” but Daniela Melchior, the “Suicide Squad” breakout star known for her role as “Cleo Caz” o, aka “Ratcatcher 2,” will also be joining the family. Marvel fans, rejoice! Brie Larson, the beloved “Captain Marvel,” has also taken a position in the franchise. However, it is not known which side of the coin she will be on.
What To Expect From ‘Fast X’?
Well, we cannot deny that “Fast & Furious” should have ended when Brian and Dom’s story came to a forced end after the tragic demise of actor Paul Walker. A few believe that a perfectly emotional ending of the franchise would have been at the end of “Fast 5,” where Brian, Dom, and the crew split a fortune while escaping to a tropical beach. Brain challenges Dom to a final zero-stake drag race, for they both have nothing more to prove to one another. However, in an unfortunate turn of events, Paul Walker was killed midway through the filming of “Fast and Furious 7.” This film, too, could have been the last film of the franchise with a very powerful emotional ending. Dom and Brian drive alongside each other for the last time before the road diverges into two separate ways. Furthermore, the audience still cannot get over the spine-shivering monologue of Dom where he says how much Brian means to him (the audience knew it was both in reel and real life). To add to the high note of emotion, Charlie Puth’s “See You Again” blew the audience away.
Many believe that “Fast & Furious” has been overextended and needs a very powerful ending. It is simply because Brian and Dom’s relationship was the pivotal point. The relationship that resonates with the family bond is the backbone of the film. However, we cannot deny that further adventures gripped the audience with high adrenaline rushes, but somewhere the emotional ground that made the film so special withered away.
Well, that does not mean all is lost. There are undoubtedly some characters whose spin offs might add extra oomph. However, a truly satisfying ending would be to witness a proper conclusion to Dom’s journey. Dom has already lost loved ones and had his fair share of pain and struggles on the one hand, and on the other, he had reunited with his family. He had redeemed himself after being rouge and decided to live a peaceful life, but was enticed back for the last mission. We cannot deny that sometimes less is more than satisfying. But after following “Fast & Furious” for decades now, we know they will never be plain and will never stop being entertaining. Thus, we know the perfect ending will come only after much struggle.

The film will hit the theaters on May 19, 2023.
