“Ant-Man 3” is drawing a divide among hardcode Marvel fans and casual moviegoers alike. Fans of the mega superhero franchise are criticizing everything from the shallow plot to the fake-looking CGI of the latest Ant-Man film. However, there’s one complaint that’s bigger than the rest. Many are dissatisfied with the ending of the film. It was a little hard to believe for many that no one from the Ant-Man family died after the confrontation with Kang. As a result, it undercut the might of the main villain. However, if current rumors are to be believed, this situation might get changed in the next big Avengers film. Let us tell you all about it.
3 Ant-Man Characters To Possibly Die In Avengers: Kang Dynasty
In the final moments of “Ant-Man 3,” Scott Lang and Kang get into a brutal brawl with each other. Kang beats Scott up and gets him into a chokehold. But he fails to kill him even though he boasts about killing other Avengers like Thor. This is because Scott dumps a bunch of Pym devices that can shrink and enlarge things into Kang’s multiversal engine. As a result, Kang gets sucked into the engine, and Scott and Hope, who jumped in to save him, are safe. In the end, they look over the distance from the Citadel, seeing the Freedom Fighters take over Kang’s palace.
Cassie Lang then reconfigures the same quantum device that brought them into the quantum realm to get her father and Hope out of the atomic realm. In the final scene, Scott, Hope, Hank, and Janet celebrate Cassie’s birthday. The happy ending is great to see after multiple MCU movies featured at least one character dying, like Jane in “Thor: Love and Thunder,” Aunt May in “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” T’Challa in “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,” etc.
However, it also made the movie feel anticlimactic because the various trailers for “Ant-Man 3” indicated that someone was going to die. There were a lot of rumors that Scott Lang would die in the film and that his daughter, Cassie Lang, was going to carry on her father’s superhero mantle. However, nothing of the sort happened, and that displeased fans. Responding to a fan tweet expressing exasperation at neither Scott, Hank, nor Janet dying in the film, Alex from The Cosmic Circus said that Marvel Studios is saving those deaths for “Avengers: Kang Dynasty.” He revealed that at least one character would die in the upcoming Avengers movie. But who is it among the three?
Which Ant-Man Character Will Die In Avengers: Kang Dynasty?
The obvious choice among Scott Lang, Janet Van Dyne, and Hank Pym is either of the latter two. After all, neither Janet nor Hank will serve an important role in the Ant-Man films or the larger MCU from now on. We already know everything there is to know about their background, the technology they developed, and what happened in the 30 years since Janet went missing in the Quantum Realm. As such, Janet or Hank dying makes the most sense. Also, they are secondary characters, so their deaths won’t affect any future films. However, their deaths will help set up an emotional base and make the stakes higher for “Avengers: Kang Dynasty.”
But speaking of emotional centerpieces and high stakes, the one character whose death will truly accomplish those things is Scott Lang. After all, as the goofy and laid-back protagonist of the Ant-Man movies, his death will hit audiences the hardest. Also, he’s a devoted father to his daughter, Cassie Lang. So if he sacrifices himself to save her, it will add an emotional level to the movie in a way that neither Janet nor Hank’s deaths will.
Also, Scott Lang dying will help Cassie Lang get the superhero mantle of her father, although her hero name is Stature in the comics. So Scott will be able to pass on his legacy, just like Captain America, Iron Man, and Black Widow did. Not to mention the fact that it will give Cassie and the heroes something personal to fight for against Kang; after all, Scott Lang has participated in every major event in the MCU, starting with “Captain America: Civil War,” so he’s a respected hero whose death will shake the other Avengers up.
Marvel fans on various subreddits of the franchise seem to agree that Scott dying is the most probable as it will make his sacrifice on par with Black Widow or Iron Man in “Avengers: Endgame.” Also, since the last fight of “Ant-Man 3” happens between Kang and Scott, his death is the most probable. Although it doesn’t look like Janet will come out alive after the Kang Dynasty since she is the one who originally trapped Kang in the Quantum Realm, so he will have a bone to pick with her too. However, this is all rumors and speculation for now. It remains to be seen what happens in “Avengers: Kang Dynasty” when it releases on May 2, 2025.
