The new Apple TV+ release “Sharper” is being loved by the masses, and the film is definitely worth a watch. Widely recognized for his role as Marvel’s “Winter Soldier,” Sebastian Stan and a very talented Julianne Moore shine in the movie, which has the elements of a good thriller. However, the chase ends in a very unexpected and shocking way. Zodiac (2007)

David Fincher’s “Zodiac” is based on the infamous serial killer who killed people in the 1960s and 1970s. The “Zodiac Killer” mystery remained unsolved, and there are hundreds of theories that circle around this particular case. Adapted from Robert Graysmith’s book of the same name, “Zodiac” focuses on the investigators (Antony Edwards and Mark Ruffalo), journalist (Robert Downey Jr.), and cartoonist Robert Graysmith (Jake Gyllenhaal) all together trying to catch the killer as he kept sending letters addressing them and sending them to the San Francisco Chronicle. The letters contained some secret codes, which eventually became an obsession for Graysmith, as he has always loved solving puzzles. Shutter Island (2010)

Exploring reality within the abstract and the abstract within the real, “Shutter Island” is an absolute gem of a movie. The movie focuses on two US marshals, Teddy Daniels (Leonardo DiCaprio) and Chuck Aule (Mark Ruffalo), who were sent to an asylum on a very far away  remote island for the investigation of a patient who disappeared. The whole situation becomes interesting when the two investigators start to explore some unexpected things, and eventually, Teddy discovers a startling truth about the place. The movie successfully captures some beautiful scenes where the interpretation of something very much depends on your perception. If you like to think a lot about a movie after watching it, then this movie can offer you a lot to think about, and it will also allow you to explore the whole thing from your perspective.


Gone Girl (2014)

Adapted from Gillian Flynn’s famous novel of the same name, “Gone Girl,” it is a mind-blowing mystery thriller. The Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike starrer movie is about a married couple who are about to celebrate their fifth marriage anniversary, but Amy (Rosamund Pike) surprisingly goes missing on the day of the anniversary, and it is now the husband Nick’s (Ben Affleck) who looks a little guilty as the day passes. After assessing every possibility that his wife might get kidnapped or even be killed by someone, it is the outcome of the investigation that is more shocking than the theories.


Memento (2000)

Christopher Nolan is massively recognized for his direction, and “Memento,” one of his earliest projects, is brilliant. The movie focuses on an insurance officer who suffers from amnesia; even though his long-term memory is intact, it is his short-term memory that becomes a problem because he can’t remember anything after every fifteen minutes. The man uses notes and tattoos to remember things, and he is after the man who killed his wife, which is the last thing he remembers. It is Leonard Shelby’s (Guy Pearce) journey to find the killer as he seeks vengeance for the death of his wife. Memento is considered one of the best mystery thrillers.


The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo (2011)

The three-time Academy Award-winning director David Fincher is renowned for his thrillers, and one of his best projects is “The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo.” The supremely talented Daniel Craig and Rooney Mara star in this mystery thriller, which is an absolute masterpiece. The film is about a journalist named Mikael Blomkvist (Daniel Craig) who is hired by a wealthy Swedish industrialist named Henrik Vanger (Christopher Plummer) and joins forces with a computer hacker named Lisbeth Salander (Rooney Mara) to solve the mystery of Vanger’s missing niece, who has been missing for forty years and assumed dead. As they start to uncover the truth, they find something shocking for which they were not prepared.


Unbreakable (2000)

The Indian-American filmmaker M. Night Shyamalan’s “Unbreakable” is a fantastic thriller that can keep you engaged. The legendary actors Samuel L. Jackson and Bruce Willis, with their brilliant performances, make the movie a treat to watch. This film is part of Shyamalan’s trilogy: “Glass,” “Split,” and “Unbreakable.” The movie is about a normal security guard who, having been the last man standing in a high-fatality train crash, finds himself right at the focal point of a list of mysterious theories that explain his consistent physical good fortune. After the news of his survival reaches the public, a man whose own body is weak finds him in an interesting attempt to explain his unique and shockingly unbreakable nature.
