Some of us dislike clowns, and we have a strong reason for it. Clowns are creepy, and they definitely remind us of various movies like “IT” and the recent one directed by Ryan Ebert, “Summerween.” Summerween is a bit different from the other horror movies featuring clowns because this one is a slasher. It is about a delirious clown who goes on a murder spree, killing anyone who does not laugh at his stupid tricks.

What Happens In The Film?
On June 22nd, Summerween, ten years before the movie’s timeline, Megan and Jeff visited the Clown House on a whim despite all the rumors regarding the place. Consequently, Lincoln Bailey, the deranged clown and the owner of the place, savagely killed Jeff that night. While trying to escape, Megan dialed 911, which led Officer Trower and Eric to the house. Before the officers could even do anything to save the kids, the Clown hurt Eric by slashing his throat (he survived that time, though). Officer Trower took charge of the situation and arrested the Clown somehow, who was later sent to a mental hospital. A decade later, at present, it is Summerween once again. While Officer Trower narrates the entire incident to his daughter Makayla, he requests her not to go out that particular night.
Why Does The Group Of Friends Decide To Party At The Clown’s House?
Since the arrest of the clown from the Clown House on 22nd June about ten years ago, the house has remained abandoned. Nobody dares to visit the house because it is full of creepy stuff, and people believe that the Clown used to torture children in that place. The friends group initially decide to go to Spring Screen Preserve to throw the party, but it is closed, and no one knows if it is going to open anytime soon. Hence, when Makayla mentions the Clown House while talking about her dad’s dislike toward Summerween, everybody picks up on the idea. According to them, it is just a house that is empty and the perfect place to party. They do not know it yet, but the clown is going to come for them soon. He was trapped in Mendota Mental Institute all this time, but now, he is free, and he is definitely going to hunt down the Trower family because of his grudge toward Officer Trower, who arrested and locked him up for ten whole years. The Clown cannot let Officer Trower or his family go.
Why Does Officer Trower Act Strangely On Summerween?
Officer Trower remembers it vividly that the Clown slashed Eric’s (his colleague) throat with a smile on his face. The evil Clown did not even think twice before killing off Jeff or Megan, and this memory haunts him. Even though a decade has passed since the incident, Officer Trower is still traumatized. Since that night, he does not allow Makayla to spend a single Summerween partying around. He does this completely out of care for his daughter, but he has also put a lot of pressure on her. Unlike other teenagers of her age, she has never spent a Summerween normally, but this time she disobeys her father by going to the Clown House because it is her last time being together with her friends before they all set out for college. The strange behavior should also be attributed to the fact that the Clown is now free. After finding Ms Raimer’s body in the open field, Officer Trower figures out that the Clown is on his way to the infamous house. The film does not mention Officer Trower’s wife, i.e, Makayla’s mother, hence I can deduce that his daughter is his only family. He does not have anybody else besides her; hence he wants her to be safe. All the past Summerweens, he was successful in keeping his daughter safe, but this time, it may be jeopardized. Officer Trower cannot let this happen at any cost.
Why Isn’t Aiden Sure About His Relationship With Makayla?
Aiden is a bright kid, and he has received a scholarship from the Ohio State University. Contrary to the plan made by him, his girlfriend (Makayla), and Sydney (Syd), he plans to attend his dream college, and he does not want to let this chance go out of hand. However, if he goes to attend college, he will probably have to end his relationship with Makayla, and she can sense it when Aiden reveals his plans to her at the party. Hence, I believe that Aiden does not know how to work it out with his girlfriend. It is not as if he wants to break up with her, but we all know how long distance actually works these days. LDR is not really feasible because after a time, one may crave for their partner physically, which cannot be fulfilled while they are miles apart. Considering the fact that Aiden wants to save Makayla tells us that he indeed loves that girl, but he is not sure about their relationship. Since it is their last Summerween together, he wants to spend the best night with Makayla, but she is not comfortable with the news of his departure. This creates a tension between them that Aiden tries to bridge, but he ultimately fails as he gets killed by the Clown.
Why Do Noah And Sydney Get Killed?
Well, it is the job of a clown to make their audience laugh, and Lincoln Bailey, being the Clown, has the same work. However, he is kind of different, not in a positive way, but in a very negative manner. He desperately wants to make his audience laugh, and if they don’t, he will kill every one of them; that is his agenda. The Clown is not a normal person; instead, he is someone with a serious mental disorder, which has turned him into a serial killer, a slasher to be exact. At first, he tries to make Noah and Sydney laugh, but since they don’t, he eventually murders them brutally. We cannot blame Noah and Sydney for not laughing at his party tricks because who would even laugh at a creepy clown like him? Nobody for sure. His appearance is horrifying, and his laugh is enough to make a little child pee their pants. Had he been a normal clown, a normal human, he could have made people laugh, but he is not. In contrast, he is a killer who is obsessed with torturing and murdering people.
Why Don’t Makayla And Aiden Respond To The Baraboo Police?
As we already know that Aiden has a scholarship, their unresponsive behavior toward the Baraboo police is linked to that. He does not want to put himself in a false position at his new college. If his name gets recorded in the police station, it can put his career in danger. His financial assistance, i.e., his scholarship, will be revoked, and no college will be ready to accept an alleged criminal as their student. Hence, even though they are in grave danger, they cannot hand themselves over to the police, and therefore, they keep quiet. The Baraboo Police does not even stand a chance in front of the Clown because one of the officers gets their throat slashed instantaneously by him. So, now Aiden does not have to worry about handing themselves over to the police because the policeman is dead.
Does The Clown Die In The End?
After the police finally arrive to save Officer Trower and Makayla, they find seven dead bodies inside the burning outhouse. However, they fail to find the body of the Clown. It is revealed that the Clown does not die. I don’t know exactly how he could escape the scorching fire with his hands handcuffed, seems as if the director and the story writer did not think this through, but he flees the scene successfully. His laugh at the end strengthens the fact that it is not over for the Trower family. The killer is going to return once again, and he will not leave the Trower family alone until he is dead and gone for good.
