It has been years sinceRachel had a heart-to-heart with Sam, and now, she wants to make up for all the times when she was absent. The story takes a dark turn when the mother gets to know that her daughter is being stalked and is in great danger. Spoilers Ahead

Why Doesn’t Sam Want To Reconnect With Her Mother?

Since childhood, Sam did not have her mother beside her when she needed her presence the most. Her father confesses that since Rachel was better at looking after the household, he did not want to take over her job. On the contrary, he decided to take care of little Sam, by leaving the rest on Rachel’s shoulders. Since Rachel works at Private Global Intelligence and Security Crisis Response, she cannot reveal her real identity to her daughter. Sam knows that her mother works in some business development job, and she has no idea that Rachel is responsible for the security of so many people. Growing up, Sam craved her mother all the time, but Rachel was unable to return to her because of her job. Rachel has been absent from Sam’s life for about six years, and during this time, Sam has learnt to live without her mother. She does not like to talk about her mother anymore because whenever she remembers Rachel, it hurts her. The relationship between a mother and a daughter is extremely sacred, and if the parent is absent most of the time, it takes a huge mental toll on the child. Adulting without a mother figure is hard because sometimes, as humans, we need the warmth, love and care of a mother. After all these years, Rachel is now trying to reconnect with Sam, but she is not ready to give her mother a chance because her wounds from the past have not yet healed completely.

Why Does Rachel Ask Sam And Her Friends To Stay At Her Place?

Sam is being stalked by a man named Daniel, and she does not know it yet. She met him at a house party where he pretended to like her, but he had other intentions. Cleverly enough, Daniel tried to kill Sam by poisoning her with fentanyl. He made her come into contact with the drug that ultimately led to her hospitalization. Sam has been receiving cryptic messages from the same man,  but she did not tell anything about this to Rachel. However, once Sam gets hospitalized, Rachel does not waste a single second and begins her investigation. She zeroes down her suspicion on Daniel once she gets to know about him from Sam’s friends, Thomas and Casey. Rachel knows that their dorm is not a safe place for them to live; hence, she invites Sam and her friends to stay at her rented apartment. After the initial attack on Sam , Rachel tries to teach them some self-defense moves and gives them safety equipment to protect themselves in case of danger. Rachel is not sure about Daniel yet, but she tries her best to protect the youngsters from further mishaps.

What Is Daniel’s Real Identity?

Daniel is an alias for Robert Orlov, son of Victor Orlov. Robert Orlov works under Victor because he has to continue his father’s legacy by hook or crook. Victor Orlov was an international drug trafficker. He was involved in several cases, but nobody was able to get a hold of him because of his connections and status. Fortunately, his time did not last long as a drug trafficker because Rachel and her team had busted his entire racket almost six years ago. It is because of her that Victor is now serving a life sentence. Nevertheless, his incarceration does not stop him because he has his pawns outside carrying forward his dirty work and his son, Robert, is one of them. Robert has changed his name to Daniel and gained admission to the same college as Sam to make her pay for whatever her mother did to his father. Since Robert could not get a hold of Rachel yet, he targets Sam first, but his eventual motive is to finish off the former.

Why Is Daniel An Abuser?

Daniel turned out to be an abuser because of his barbaric father. When he was young, Victor Orlov was jailed for less than a year on charges of child abuse. After he returned, Daniel insisted he would live with his father. His mother was terrified of Victor; hence, she gave him to his father and escaped the family forever. Victor brought up Daniel like his little soldier through abuse and fear. Unlike Sam, who also grew up without her mother, Daniel did not receive the kind of love that a kid of his age should have. His household was filled with terror and blood, but Sam’s was filled with love and care from her father. Both Sam and Daniel grew up with their fathers, but their upbringing was completely different. Their environments shaped who they are today. Daniel does not know it yet, but Victor does not really care about him. His father considers him an idiot and wants him to die because he is a liability.

What Happens To Sam In The End?

After Sam gets kidnapped from her dorm by Daniel, he keeps her hostage in an old church until Rachel arrives to rescue her. Both Rachel and Daniel get involved in a horrifying physical altercation that also leads to several gunshots. Rachel tries to make Daniel understand that his father is a ruthless killer and even though he is his son, he wants him dead as well. Daniel does not believe Rachel at first, but when Victor’s men fire at Daniel, it is too late. Rachel’s teammate Bear comes to the rescue and shoots at Victor’s pawn, putting him down. He handcuffs Daniel and arrests him for his crimes. Towards the end, Sam and her friends return to their daily college life while Rachel decides to stay in the town a little longer. Finally, Sam and Rachel do reconnect with each other, and Rachel promises to always stand by her daughter.
